Radio Pieces
Capitol News Connection w/ PRI
I
would be happy to provide a reel of news pieces, 2-ways, podcasts
and specials upon request. Below is a small sample of my work.
New
legislation would protect whistleblowers (09.08.2006)
Three months ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the First
Amendment does not protect public employees who are speaking
in an official capacity. In response, lawmakers on Capitol
Hill are working to strengthen protection of government whistleblowers.
From Capitol Hill, Benjamin Shaw reports the fate of this
legislation rests in the hands of one San Diego Congressman.

Capitol
Hill Update on KPBS's These Days (09.05.2006)
Congress returns for last few months of the legislative season.
Tom Fudge speaks with Ben Shaw from Capitol News Connection
for our regular update from Washington to find out what's
in store for the months to come.
Net
Neutrality 2-way on KUOW's The Conversation (06.28.2006)
The
Senate Commerce Committee is taking up a controversial part
of the Telecommunications Bill today -- net neutrality. Several
telecommunications companies say that in order to make money
off the Internet, they should be able to charge consumers
for what they're able to view on the web. The more a consumer
pays, the better access she has. But there are plenty of critics
of this thinking. We'll get an update on what's happening
with net neutrality in the other Washington, and we'll talk
with a local expert on what exactly net neutrality means and
some unexpected ways it might affect Internet users.
